Off and on, during snippets of time I've been dipping my hands in hot, soapy water...and with elbow grease....creating felted acorns.
I had an urge to do something with them....esp. since I was in need of a gift for a creative person I admire. So, out came dyed wool roving in as many fall colors as I had.
Then, with the DVR tuned to my archive of "Housewives" shows....a bowl of hot water and some soap.....
I squeezed, rolled, patted, and otherwise manipulated some shapes to fit into the acorn lids.
And....here are the results.....

How cool! If you put one on a necklace you could use it as a pincushion around your neck that travels with you :-)
Love!
Looks like a lot of work, but well worth the effort I am sure.
Love the colors... I wonder if the squirrels in my yard would go for these?!
These are so awesome! What a fun, creative way to decorate for autumn!
They are darling. I, too, have a bunch of the little caps... picked in years previous, but saved to make hats for little woodland people - as shown on the Carol Duval show years ago. Still haven't found the time.
Your green ones look like the acorns on my oak tree now. Thanks for sharing your project.
Hugs

So autumnal! At an oak wood near me, the ground is now littered with fallen acorns and painty brown leaves.
