.......now we've moved on to another method that Pasty demonstrated.....

Fabric pieces can be balled up (folded, pleated, tied (like the 60's tie dye era) before accepting the dyes. It's best to put it in a container.....which can be a larger plastic tub like this or small plastic storage containers for smaller pieces of fabric.

Again, dye is squirted onto the fabric.....first on the top and then the 'ball' is flipped over.....
starting with the lightest color of dye.

A second color is added.....and so on. You can use your gloved hands to manipulate the dye into all areas of the fabric.

Then Patsy put it in a microwave.....set on high for 1 min. This helps to cure the dye and can add texture as some of the dye pools in the valleys of the fabric ball.

Patsy also showed how she dyes her threads..... After soaking in water/soda ash.....the strand of thread (such as
perle cotton) is arranged on her dye board.

Color #1 is added.....

......and using a foam brush.....the dye is worked into all the strands.

Color #2 & 3 are added the same way......now both the thread and the dyed fabric ball are drying outside.
......more to come.....
