RED BIRDS

Gotta admit....I got super obsessed creating this piece.  Working with fabric that was specifically hand printed to coordinate was quite the incentive.

It's a small piece, with hopefully a big impact.  I'm getting more comfortable with the process of framing my work and hope that extra effort pays off.

RED BIRDS - 13" X 13"
Hand printed cotton, appliqued, hand embroidered,
machine quilted with metallic thread.

Your gelli printing fun certainly yielded great results!

Love the visual texture in the background fabric and on the birds. It is hard to tell through my screen - did you include the glass or leave it off? It is a hard decision to vary from cloth only to a standard frame. Must say the decision was wonderful for this little work. Hopefully your shoppers will agree. Always learning and thinking, you are, Mary.

For Laura and anyone else who might be curious.....Given that I'm in a gallery where my pal Judy Simmons and I are the only fiber artists.....and most buyers simply do not understand art quilts.......my concession was to learn to frame some, but not all of my work. It's actually an experiment.....framing adds to the cost in time and materials. I may find it's not worth it.... But to answer the question....no, I eliminated the glass......I frankly, I feel that diminishes the appearance of the work. Thanks for asking Laura.
