RAIN DROPS

Many happy hours were spent beading the rain drops on this project that I'd recently blogged about. Finishing the edges was tricky, given that 2 were already hemmed and one contained a lace trim, but with persistence I worked out the construction details to provide a tidy finish.
RAIN DROPS  23" x 32"
Vintage table linen ice-dyed by the artist, machine stitched, hand beaded.

This is just one of the happiest pieces....I love it and especially love the way you incorporated the lace edging into it. Bravo!

Looks fabulous! I love the overdyed lace! I have so much of that from various people, I really need to use it!

The crochet work on this piece is magnificent. I like how you've dyed and quilted this piece.

How perfect! To put the yellow umbrella. Sometimes the simplest of images can say so much. Why am I thinking of the famous street artist Banksy when I look at this? May because he s good at putting a pop of color in just the right spot to make a statement.

Mary here.....Banksy did feature one of his graffiti walls with a young girl sliding down a downspout holding an umbrella.....and perhaps other scenes I'm not aware of..... Always loved his work!

What a great little piece! Was the lace part of the vintage tablecloth or did you add that? The lace certainly is integrated into the rain theme.

this has worked so beautifully

Mary replies - Yes Madalene, the lace was part of the tablecloth. It was fortunate that it dyed up so beautifully.

The cheery yellow umbrella elevates what could be a gloomy rain scene to one where you want to run out and splash in the puddles.
