The Fiber Junkies spend spring - fall months playing with fabric dyes and paints which yields A LOT of fabric. My preference of working with felted wool can over shadow other fun fabrics.
Yet, my eye seems to meet this small cotton piece every time I glance towards my painted/dyed fabric stash. (7th railing on the right.) The question was....what the heck do I do with it?
One problem was the flaw smack dab in the middle of the length of fabric which was required removing a narrow section. yes, I could have covered it up....but...
Instead, I decided to incorporate some polka-dot scraps.
Here's one layout idea. The very top section is the strip cut from the whole-cloth....adding 1 patch to achieve the required width. Actually, viewing the photo now as I pen this post....it isn't too bad..... Yet, during auditioning various layouts, I chose not to go this route.
My blogging format preference is to share some step-by-steps followed by the finished piece. Because my plan calls for a lot of hand stitching....that won't happen for awhile. Stay tuned....

Well, I certainly did not see what the flaw was that you had to remove, but I sure like where you're going with this! Looks like such fun and I have a similar one that might benefit from a stolen idea or two...!!! (By the way, I have not been able to get through with any email to you.)
Oooooh--the flaw in the fabric itself! I was looking for a flaw in the design, which I did not see! Looking forward to the finished product.
What is it about dots and circles that are so appealing? Your initial fabric is terrific, even with the tiny flaw and I like both of your solutions. Be sure to keep us posted.

Love that piece of fabric, and I can see why you want to do something with it but wonder what. Your idea to break it up with strips of something else is a good reminder to me. I seldom think to do that to what I feel is a really interesting piece of fabric, perhaps one that I think should stand alone somehow. And yet, the cutting makes it even more interesting and exciting!
what a great piece of fabric you created think both ideas work well good to see ypou have decided to do lots of hand stitching on it, I find hand stitching very relaxing. You certainly have a cupboard full of fabrics

I love the circles and dots. I'd leave the piece as pictured, and figure out how to quilt it.
