HELPFUL HINT

I've resurrected a trick that I've used in the past....but one that is worth sharing again......

After spending what seems like hours....auditioning positions of applique shapes (prepared with a fusible product)......standing and staring at the design wall, readjusting...then standing and staring some more... finally, the design is acceptable and it's time to securing the motifs.

The problem often is the same.....you pin the fabric in place, only to find when you pull the quilt top away from the flannel....half of the motifs are also secured to the flannel design wall!!  Grrrrr.
Now.....I use a small hot iron to temporarily attach each piece...which eliminates the need for those nasty pins you see.  Once each piece is secured, the entire quilt top can be moved to the ironing board and permanently fused.
This is such a time and frustration saver....give it a try won't you???

good use of the little iron. I just unplug my big iron, and tote it over to the wall, and tap the elements. It stays hot a long time after unplugging.

It's Mary here.....I used to use my big iron for this task as well....but the surface is so large, sometimes it fused pieces that weren't quite postioned correctly...I seem to have more control when using a small head iron.

thanks for the hint - no need to pin twice or for that matter once, you don't have to.
