Last week I blogged about this piece, which almost got the better of me. The comments and encouragement many of you shared were so heartwarming. Thank you!
The changes on the finished piece may not appear as if a lot went into it, yet it actually took considerable thought, auditioning and testing to find the appropriate construction process to add the three details that now connect the two pieces.
Once again this is an example of the complexity and joy of creating one-of-a-kind art quilts!

Wooo hoooo! Success! It looks great! Perfect solution.
She's beautiful, definitely a one of a kind quilt. Blessings, Gretchen villacrestfarm@gmail.com
I agree, a perfect solution! Did you have to stiffen the bottom piece so that it hangs straight, without flopping?
A very interesting, unique piece, nice work Mary!
Really great piece, I love it!
Norma asked whether I had to stiffen the bottom section......no amazingly it wasn't necessary. It's only 5" long and quilted about every 1/2" so perhaps that's why.
Oh! I love what you did! Kudos on sticking with it!
Great solution, looks wonderful.
jUST A WONDERFUL PIECE, MARY!!! lOVE IT!!
Perfection! This piece has wonderful appeal!
Nice save! I'm struck once again by how graceful your tree is. Adding the bottom back on with the gap bridged by a little more trunk and the extension of the vertical black strips works very well. I can tell you are glad you didn't give up on it. And so am I.
A tricky bit of engineering for sure- but so successfully done! This looks great. Who would ever guess you didn't start out to do this?
I absolutely love this piece and even better in person!
Mary, this is awesome. So creative and so inspiring. Congratulations!
That is an incredible work of art Mary! Very well named too.
This is just lovely, Mary! I would have loved it if it were just one piece as a background, but what you've done is so much more interesting.
