FRUSTRATED!!!

It's so darn frustrating to have a mental vision (even though it's hazy) and yet not be able to pull the design/fabric/color together into a cohesive piece!!

AND.....even if I find the right fabric combo....how on earth would I piece this purposely random block placement without pulling out my hair?

Applique? Whatever you decide, those prints are gorgeous.

Remember when you are searching for color and nothing works, try going to the other side of the color wheel! A dark burgundy could work with this. And piecing random shapes is a matter of starting with one section, adding chunks and pieces and MAKING things fit together. Sometimes that requires som partial seams but it's worth it to get that random placement that looks so good. You got this!

Puzzle, puzzle, puzzle... and suddenly, it will click!

Thank you all for your good suggestions..... A. reverse applique is already under consideration but I fear I may not have enough width for a whole cloth background...esp. if there are goofs. B. Burgundy is the very first fabric I tried....didn't even take a picture as it was dismissed instantly....it dulled the block fabrics too much...anything lighter in that color family make it look like an attempt at a Christmas quilt. C. I'd had to tell you Nancy how much puzzling has already gone into this darn thing. But you are right....time often solves it.

My first thought was a really dark green or a black with a little red in it. Having done a few block exchange quilts where none of the blocks are the same size........ add enough sashing to each block to make them the same size then sew them together but I don't do a lot of hand appliqué anymore .sometimes things just need to sit on the back burner for a while. Hope you are staying warm.
