When creating small works, I prefer to post a complete overview, beginning to end.....but sometimes projects stall....like this one has.
I was so anxious to work with this hunk of altered bamboo rayon felt from National Nonwovens.
Ages ago I had dyed it to achieve what I thought was a fairly nice piece....but I never did anything with it. On a recent Fiber Junkies play day, I hauled it out and mono-printed it using acrylic paint. (See first photo)
My work has been concentrating on botanical themes lately in preparation for an upcoming exhibit at the NC Arboretum, Spring 2016. Thus.....trees came to mind to utilize this special fabric.
The problem was/is......the tree tops are fairly small and no matter what color thread was pared with it.....from more than a foot away, it blended into the fabric too much. Of course if I hadn't chosen this black felted background other options might be easier to find.
A 2 AM thought last night/early this morning might provide a new direction for me to explore..........NO - it was NOT a dream.....I have to work harder than that!!......
Stay tuned, won't you???

I will definitely stay tuned! This looks like an interesting problem--can't wait to see your solution!
That fabric is working wonderful in this project...anxious to see what you will do.
I like it so far. I hope you had a notebook nearby at 2 AM.
I have a lot of 'stalled' ideas too - some stall way earlier in my process when I realize I need to develop a new skill to create what I want. Will look forward to seeing your next step. (Good to be back reading blogs - missed the connection!)
I wouldn't be surprised if what we see now, isn't what we get. One more who can't wait to see how you transform this piece.
I can't wait to see what you do with it!
Ooooh! That felt is gorgous. Have you tried a different background? Maybe that's your stumbling block. Looking forward to see what you come up with.
Looks good so far. Give yourself breathing space to let new ideas emerge.
This happened to me recently. I dyed gorgeous chenille yarn and it sat there for long time until the light went on! Have fun with your botanical theme, won't you?

Those late night (early morning?) inspirations are often the best. Love the green fabric Mary and I also like the way the color just pops on the dark background.
