December 16th was National Wreaths Across America day. Please consider taking a moment to visit their website to learn more about this valuable program.
A neighbor attended the ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery a year or two ago and came away deeply touched. They joined others in our community to see that every veteran's grave was honored with a wreath. Lonnie and Irene have worked hard to make this day at Green Cemetery such a success and other good pals Dennis and Lynn contributed so much as well. We were proud to be a part of it.
Several piles of wreaths awaited us volunteers.
A very short introduction by the organizers was followed with a demonstration of how to place the wreaths. They made a point to suggest we say the name of the veteran as we placed each one. I'm only showing a few as an example of the large range of time periods of those resting here.
A view like this will surely provide pride and chills!
What an inspiring day.....we should all be so grateful to our military heros.
