GINKGO RAIN - 13" x 22.5"
Gingko trees defoliate quickly, generally in one day. Japanese cotton fabrics, batik, pieced, appliqued, and quilted with metallic thread.

Stunning!! I have to know what scissors you use to do all that fussy cutting of the cranes. The edges are perfect.
It's not necessarily the scissors that gives me good results. I actually don't use a specific brand, just some small sharp embroidery scissors. I probably have a half dozen different brands. It's very helpful to lightly mist & press fabrics that require intricate cutting with spray starch. For raw edge applique, after fusing to the base fabric I treat the edges with Fray Block (June Tailor product)...using a tiny paint brush, and let dry. All this is extra time consuming but generally assures a nice clean edge.
The gold tones in this just glow- it's lovely.
Thank you Nancy, I rarely work with this color and had to resort to an old trick to get the cranes to stand out better......will share that tip in a day or so.....
Love the addition of the cranes. They float like the ginkgos do, one kind of symmetry amid a different kind asymmetry.

I am a big ginkgo fan, having used them in several quilts so of course I love this quilt. The colors are fabulous and your workmanship brings everything together beautifully.
