We've sold a ton, packed for a month and still there are 5 packing guys here and a big truck with just boxes and wrapping paper etc. Clearly we did not downsize enough!!! Moving van comes tomorrow....but it can't get up our mountain roads so everything will be handled multiple times...put on small (shuttle) truck from here to meet where moving van is parked.

Suddenly so real... Yikes the amount of stuff we wind up with is astonishing. Well, good luck on the trip.
Oh, I hear you, we had to do the same when we moved to our home here. Safe travels to you both, keep blogging when you get there!
There's no turning back now! The last two times I moved they needed to use a shuttle because the big vans couldn't handle my steep driveways. It's amazing what they can do, and aren't you glad you don't have to do that part yourself? Keep us posted!
With every move I've made, I packed a "first night" box with essentials we'd need once we arrived on the other end before the movers arrived with our things: sheets & towels, coffee pot and beans, a pair of napkins/placemats and silverware, etc. with the box going in the car with us. I quickly learned that you have to be very specific with the packers about what NOT to pack, my mil telling me her experience with packers boxing up a kitchen trash bin full of garbage, which of course was reeking by the time it was unpacked on the other end. So I pointed out my first night box and said don't touch it, nor the things on the dining room table where I'd laid out placemats etc for use when we had lunch and dinner that day. Still, I caught one of the packers who was particularly fast swooping down on the table and gathering everything up to put in a box. I caught him just in time - lol. As an aside, everything any packers packed for us arrived on the other end in perfect condition, even the most fragile items. However, they DO use a ton of paper wrapping everything up safely. Best of luck to you.
