Recently I Nuno felted a large piece (using a dyed silk scarf as the base). I proceeded to cut it into several smaller sections, refelting with more roving to encompass the edges where the scarf had become visible.
So....now what to do with these pieces? Well.....bead embellish them of course! I prefer to stabilize the fabric with a non-fusible lightweight interfacing (used mainly for garment construction) to help hold the weight of the beadwork. Then I raid my bead stash....pull some options to begin the design and I'm all set for hours of evening one eye on the TV watching. (I do not have control of the remote in this household.....really do any of you??)
The focal point of a large glass 'donut' was added first.
Followed by simple seed/bugle bead units.

Now this is an interesting piece! Can't wait to see more progress!!! Remote? What's a remote? I'll have to ask my room mate...I'm sure HE knows what that is!! I too watch TV with my ears and not eyes!!!
I do not have control of the remote - but luckily my hubby is not a big TV person. He rarely wants to watch tv that I give it up to him gladly.

Again, I am inspired by your work. A great beginning and I can wait to see what happens next.

beautiful piece of felt. Looking forward to the finished product.
Your felted back piece is lovely and I love the contrast between the softness of the felt and the shininess of the beads!
I'll be following this project with great interest. I have tried felting, but I never knew what to do with it when I finished. I have a black and white piece now--looks sort of like a skunk pelt ;-) It will be interesting to me to see where you go with this. I LOVE the decorative "doughnut."
My FiberWorks group had a workshop today about needle felting, both hand done and machine. I would like to try Nuno felting some day. Yours is wonderful!
Interesting. I have silk. I have roving. I have beads.
I have never thought of combining them all!
Oooh this is really beautiful! :)
